Providers of free online college courses are experimenting with academic security measures that will enable students who successfully complete the courses to obtain credentials, for a small fee, that convey some of the cachet of a premier university.

As someone who served California as Insurance Commissioner, I know that Proposition 33 will lead to higher auto insurance rates and legalize discrimination by auto insurance companies. That's why I urge all Californians to vote NO on Proposition 33.

Revelations of discrimination by insurance companies are always shocking, but when they come out just days before a vote on an industry-sponsored ballot measure that would legalize unfair price increases and prejudice in auto insurance, Californians should pay particular attention.

Prop 33 would hit lower income families the hardest. But its ripple effects will cost all of us...If Prop 33 passes, one billionaire gets to write his own insurance rules. It's a deceptive trick to raise rates on motorists.
