Consumer Federation of California Names Pavley ‘Senator of the Year’
SACRAMENTO, CA ‘ The Consumer Federation of California has named Senator Fran Pavley (D-Agoura Hills) as its ‘Senator of the Year’. Consumer Federation of California officials say Senator Pavley was chosen for her leadership in supporting consumer protection legislation.
‘Senator Pavley has long been a consumer champion,’ said Consumer Federation of California (CFC) Executive Director Richard Holober. ‘She has been willing to go up against powerful forces such as the chemical and pharmaceutical Industries, utility companies and big oil in an effort to protect consumers.’
‘I’ve definitely been in some David vs. Goliath fights,’ said Senator Pavley. ‘But all of the hard work is worth it when you know you’re helping to protect the people of California.’
The CFC outlined Pavley’s tireless work to ban toxins such as lead, cadmium and BPA from children’s products; legislation to protect consumers from mortgage fraud; and efforts to crack down on elder abuse as just a few recent examples of her consumer advocacy. ‘Senator Pavley is a true consumer advocate and we are proud to honor her with the Consumer Federation of California Senator of the Year Award,’ said Holober.
Senator Pavley will receive her award during a special reception at the State Capitol on Monday, April 11, 2011.
